Responsibilities

Orion Space Solutions (Orion) was born out of the vision for applying fundamental space physics knowledge to address real-world problems. Founded in 2005, and based in Louisville, Colorado, Orion is a leader in the “New Space” small satellite industry. Working closely with our engineers, you will be responsible for developing novel electrical designs spanning from wire harnesses and PCBAs to full systems, in addition to exposure to the other sub-systems within the engineering organization. Orion is a highly collaborative environment, and our interns will be encouraged to work with mentors and other team members to execute complex projects. 

Qualifications

Must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in electrical or computer engineering 

 Nice to Have 

  • Ability to work well in an integrated collaborative team environment, including frequent interactions with technicians, engineers, and managers 
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic professional setting with changing needs and requirements 
  • Experience designing multi-layer PCBAs for high-speed digital applications 
  • Experience with high performance kW scale isolated power converter design 
  • Experience designing analog control loops, solid state load switches, motor inverters, EMI/EMC compliance, or sensor signal conditioning circuits 
  • Experience with digital processors, FPGAs, memory chips, or network switches 
  • Proficient with circuit simulation tools such as LTspice 
  • Experience with component selection for use in radiation environments 
  • Experience programming in C/C++, Python, or Matlab 

Equal Pay Act

This is the projected compensation range for this position. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate. Intern hourly rates are determined based upon the technical/non-technical nature of the position and years of education/experience.

Min (Hourly): $22
Max (Hourly): $28
